Harry Woolf

Harry Woolf was another store keeper, who later settled in Bethany Center in 1889 on the southeast corner. In the front of the building was Dr. Orlando Croff's office. Mr Woolf started peddling on the roads with a hand cart. Soon, by means of horses. He was successful enough in his business to buy the property. He remodeled the house and built on the front part of the building. Here he carried on a flourishing General Store until 1933 when he sold it to Fay Starkweather. In 1941, the Rennerds came out from Buffalo and purchased the property. Then in the spring of '56, Donald Ford took over the store, remodeled it extensively, as a 'serve yourself' store, with 'walk-in' cooler. This store has always been run in a friendly, neighborly manner and is generally known as a 'Mom & Pop' store.
